Chubb Fire is teaming up with a host of local fire brigades from across the UK to provide active support for the Scouts 21st World Scout Jamboree at Hylands Park, Essex, an international event to mark the Centenary of Scouting.
More than 40,000 Scouts from almost every corner of the globe will be attending the two-week Jamboree, running from 27 July to 8th August. The event aims not only to celebrate the adventure, fun and challenge of Scouting, but also to introduce Scouts to new experiences, and encourage them to understand the issues and challenges facing our world today.
Over the course of the fortnight, participants will engage in a wide range of activities set to inspire, educate and thrill. All of the activities are part of ‘education for life’ using non-formal methods and learning in small groups. One of the learning zones is entitled ‘Elements’, which will focus on the science of the four elements: fire, air, water and earth.
Chubb Fire - along with Essex Fire Brigade - will be the main attraction at the Fire elements zone, providing Scouts with educational material supporting the importance of fire safety.
Chubb Fire’s Customer Training Officer, Gary Wright will be on hand to provide regular fire demonstrations to each of the visiting ‘groups’, and explaining the different types of extinguishers. He will also give some Scouts first-hand experience of putting out a fire. There will be a ‘fire tent’ which Scouts and Scout leaders will be able to visit for more information, and learn more about the Chubb Fire Safety badge.
Hovering above the ‘Elements’ section will be Chubb Fire’s now-famous extinguisher-shaped hot air balloon. It will be tethered near the Elements zone making an impressive addition the Jamboree skyline. Scout leaders will have the chance to take part in a competition to go up in the balloon for a unique view of the whole Jamboree!
