Chubb Systems has installed two sophisticated fire suppression systems into South Wales Police's server rooms to help protect vital equipment from fire.

South Wales Police is the largest police force in Wales, covering Wales' two largest cities, Cardiff and Swansea, and fielding over 600,000 999 and 101 calls per year. It was critical that the installation was conducted in a live environment so as not to cause disruption, false alarms or system downtime.

The gas-based suppression systems were chosen for their industry-leading fire knockdown time of less than 10 seconds. The technology is well-suited to sites with critical equipment as there is no powder or liquid residue that can cause lasting damage. The installation integrates with South Wales Police's existing Chubb fire detection and alarm system.

Lance Thomas, project manager at South Wales Police said Chubb engineers were professional and worked well with the force's technical team. "We were more than happy with the installation, which was carried out to a high standard. The team accommodated our changes in a helpful and professional manner and the Chubb project manager's attendance on site was invaluable."
